In this last musical style, the 1st Sant Joan d’Alacant International Jazz Festival “Sant Joan Jazz Fest” was organized last year, organized by the cultural association “Refugio Jazz Club”, with the valuable collaboration of the La Paz Musical Society and the Department of Culture of the Sant Joan City Council.
In August the II Edition of the International Festival of Sant Joan d’Alacant (Sant Joan Jazz Fest 2020) will take place, in which we will offer the people of Sant Joan two concerts in the same environment as the one offered in the previous edition: Manzaneta Gardens.
On the one hand, an extraordinary session * (in two performances) * on Saturday August 8, dedicated to vocal jazz, by two international references of the genre: the Australian HETTY KATE and the North American RANDY GREER.
On the second day of the Festival, on Monday, August 24, we will have a combination of two artists who are an international benchmark for their respective instruments: the pianist FABIO MIANO and the harmonica player ANTONIO SERRANO.
As a result of the merger at the beginning of the year with the Rejugio Jazz Club, next year, La Paz offers an expansion of its modern music classroom offering classes in rock, pop, rhythm and blues, bolero, copla, flamenco and other trends.
Taking advantage of the new synergies, the conservatory’s board will request when the conditions allow for the implementation of the modern music degree. The International Jazz Festival will be an important element to value the conservatory’s educational commitment. ” José Ángel Espinós, President La Paz Musical Society.
“This second edition has been prepared to surprise amateurs of jazz lovers again. We are lucky to have great figures in international music in our town who will allow us to enjoy unique concerts. The key to this festival is to surround yourself with people who are experts in the matter and from the Department of Culture we will work so that our project becomes a benchmark and in this very special edition, complying with preventive measures against COVID. ” Esther Donate, councilor of Culture.
